2011 NFL Draft Ends for Ravens

The Baltimore Ravens have drafted eight new players in the 7 rounds of the 2011 NFL draft which ends today.  It was an exciting draft for Ravens fans, and I believe that the Ravens did very well in the draft.  For a list of the Ravens draft picks, check out the link below:

Ravens Pick Running Back in 7th and Final Round of 2011 NFL draft

The Baltimore Ravens picked RB Anthony Allen in the 7th and final round of the 2011 NFL draft.  Assuming the that Ravens lose McGahee and  possibly McLain to free agency, the Ravens have added some depth at the running back position.

Ravens Pick QB Tyrod Taylor in Sixth Round of 2011 NFL Draft

It looks like the rumors that current Ravens backup quarterback Marc Bulger is going to be traded are true.  The Baltimore Ravens have just drafted Virginia Tech QB Tyrod Taylor with their 6th round draft pick in the 2011 NFL draft.  Tyrod Taylor is a dynamic quarterback who can make throws both inside and outside the pocket.  Taylor is Virginia Tech's all time passing leader with 7,017 yards.

Ravens Grab a DB and a DL in Fifth Round

The Baltimore Ravens had two back to back picks in the fifth round of the 2011 NFL draft.  The Ravens chose to select DB Chykie Brown from Texas and DL Pernell McPhee from Mississippi St. to solidify an always stong Ravens defense.

Ravens Select Another Wide Receiver with Fourth Round Pick

The Baltimore Ravens pick their 2nd Wide Receiver in the fourth round of the 2011 NFL draft with their selection of Indiana WR Tandon DossTandon Doss is considered to be another speedy receiver with good route running skills.

Ravens Attempt to Fix Offensive Line with Third Round Pick

The Baltimore Ravens picked Central Florida offensive tackle Jah Reid in the third round of the 2011 NFL draft.  Apparently, they must have liked this OT as they traded up five spots to get him.  With Gaither being doubtful, this was an excellent choice to fix our problems on the offensive line.  Ozzie is a genious.  Too bad the Chicago Bears screwed us over on the 4th round pick that we deserved.

Ravens Pick Wide Receiver Torrey Smith in Second Round

The Baltimore Ravens have decided to fix their problems stretching the defense on offense with their second round pick in the 2011 NFL draft.  The Ravens picked speedy Maryland WR Torrey Smith and now have an impressive group of wide receivers.  The Ravens have added speed to both the offense and defense with their first two picks and I am very happy so far with the selections.

Ravens Select Jimmy Smith with Their First Round Pick in 2011 NFL Draft

The Baltimore Ravens have selected Colorado cornerback Jimmy Smith with their first round pick in the 2011 NFL draft.  I think this was a great pick for the  Baltimore Ravens who have had issues at the cornerback position for the last few years.

Will the Ravens Pick a Cornerback in the NFL Draft?

The Baltimore Ravens have been trying to fix their problems at the cornerback position for a few years now. I was so surprised last year that the Ravens did not pick a cornerback in the NFL draft. Last year we seemed to be more focused to trying to fix our problems at the wide receiver position.

This year there is some speculation that we may pick Colorado cornerback Jimmy Smith with the Ravens first pick in the 2011 NFL draft if the opportunity in there. I personally would like to see us get a good young cornerback as well a good OL to take the place of Gaither in this years NFL draft. Many say that Jimmy Smith draws comparison to former Ravens cornerback Chris McAlister.
