What the Hell was Tyler Huntley Thinking?

I really don't want to be too critical of Tyler Huntley, but I have to do it. His decision to go over the top on the goal line was one of the most bone headed plays I have ever seen in NFL history. It was just plain stupid. It was not only stupid, it was embarassing as a Ravens fan to watch that play unfold.

The sad part is that Huntley played fairly well on the road against the Bengals in his first playoff start. He did have an interception early in the game, but he managed ro have us in position to win late in the 4th quarter. Ravens had a golden opportunity to get a touchdown late in the 4th quarter and break the 17 to 17 tie. It looked like the Ravens were going to win the game at the time!

Then the worst thing that could happen happened. Instead of just falling forward on a quarterback sneak call, Huntley opted to try to reach over the top and Bengals defenders were able to force him to fumble. To add insult to injury, the Bengals scooped up the fumble and returned it for a 95 yard touchdown which turned out to be the game winning score.

It was a bad playcall from the start, but the execution of it by Huntley was even worse. What made Huntley think he could go over the top and reach the ball out unsecurely from that far out? His decision to do so certainly didn't help offensive coordinator Greg Roman keep his job. It only made us realize how much we miss a healthy Lamar Jackson.
